2019 Red Dress
Our goal with this blend was to make a wine with some of the varieties that do well in parts of Lake and Mendocino Counties in Northern California. The Zinfandel from the Red Hills area of Lake County gives us wonderful fruit aromas and flavors from this very highly regarded sub-appellation. The Tempranillo, also from Lake County, adds another dimension of fruit character with good structure and body, while the Merlot from Mendocino County adds another layer of fruit and complexity.
One is immediately impressed with the deep color in this wine, which hints at the rich body and impressive structure that is evidenced on the palate. The aromas hint at the fruit brightness and complexity that this blend gives us. The aromas and flavors speak of ripe mature fruit with notes of dark berries, spice, plums, and orange blossoms. On the palate, the wine is well balanced for a wine with such richness and power with a long, lasting enjoyable finish.
